Another side of me

I have a great job that involves handmade textiles.

They are made in buenos aires with old techniques and very noble materials. Blankets, scarfs, pillow cases, placing mats, things like that.
I use cotton, natural silk that´s hand woven and dyed, baby alpaca from Peru, pure merino wool.
There are different techniques involved like manually operated looms, crochet, macrame.

  7. These are beautiful! I knit and have a Mom who taught me to appreciate natural fibers. I love the orange pillow - the color and the texture.

    1. Thanks Xena! That´s handmade in a loom and I used alpaca and merino wool that´s weaved irregularly.

  8. Hi, Paula,

My younger daughter is studying at Rhode Island School of Design and her concentration is Textiles. I love your beautiful work and was wondering how you got started.

I have been reading your recipes and somehow just discovered this other side of you!

    1. Hey Stacy, I stumbled upon them quite by chance through my mother who found a great scarf almost ten years ago. Then I started investigating and contacting weavers, which thankfully, still exist here. They do everything by hand, that´s one of the differences in what I do.
I use natural fibers like cotton, alpaca, natural silk which is handwoven and dyed, very different from the thin threads that are used for industrial weaving.
The three techniques I use are looms, crochet and macrame.

  9. These are lovely Paula! Do you design them yourself? You mentioned in one of the comment that you work with weavers - have you delved into this traditional work too? Really just lovely, lovely things.

    1. I do everything but the actual weaving...! It´s a great craft that unfortunately is being lost around the world, replaced by so many machine made textiles. Most people would rather buy something cheap every year than spend more on something that lasts a decade.
